Basics About The 2023 Ford Explorer

The 2023 Ford Explorer remains one of the most popular choices among large SUV buyers. Let’s explore what the latest version of this vehicle has to offer.

The Ford Explorer seats up to seven people. Rear-wheel drive comes as standard, but all-wheel drive is optional on all of its eight trims. The trim levels are Base, XLT, ST-Line, Limited, Timberline, ST, Platinum, and King Ranch. You can choose one of the eight coats of paint available.

There is a choice of two engines among these eight trims. The lower trims are powered by a 300-horsepower 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. If that’s not enough power, you can upgrade to a 3-liter V6 engine that makes 400 horsepower. There’s a hybrid Explorer available, too.

New/Unique Features

The FordPass app is a unique and eye-catching feature that can certainly benefit Ford Explorer drivers. This app lets you check fuel, oil, or electric charge levels. You can also find your nearest gas or electric charging stations and use your app as a key for remote start/stop.

On top of that, you can use it to earn reward points on Ford purchases including servicing, maintenance, or accessories. These points can be used to earn discounts on future purchases.

Power

The acceleration offered by these powerful engines is a highlight for Explorer buyers. Speed enthusiasts will be especially excited about the Performance features added to the ST trim. With this trim, you’ll be able to enjoy stiffer suspension and stronger brakes for a truly thrilling drive. The Explorer ST can reach 60 miles per hour from a standstill in roughly 5.2 seconds.

You can expect to tow up to 5,600 pounds with the more powerful trims when you equip the Class IV Trailer Tow Package.

Safety

There’s an impressive range of technology being used to keep the occupants of the Ford Explorer safe. Standard safety features include automated emergency braking, forward-collision warnings, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and lane departure warnings.

More advanced safety features become available as you navigate up the trim levels. These include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and a 360-degree camera system.

Space and Comfort

You can enjoy up to 87.8 cubic feet of space for luggage when you fold down the rear seats. Fancy features such as automatic climate control, a panoramic moonroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 12-speaker premium Bang & Olufsen will help you enjoy every moment of your long journeys in this vehicle.
